road trip gone wrong.

There was a lot of snow on the road!!!
After an early start we were turned back by wind and large snow drafts at Hanmer. Not to be disheartened we turned our attention to Mt Lyford, that had 40cm of fresh lite pow. We proceed up Lyford in good hart.... however the road had NOT been graded down to the gavel = no traction . We were turned back by a avalanche which had come across the road(this was not reported in the news) trapping a family in a loaded van which had blown a chain. We were able to turn around on this narrow part of the road when a 2 wheel drive car with chains got stuck behind us. I was able to negotiate around the car and proceed down the mountain. With one extra passenger from the stuck car, who was some what shitting her pants!! We told all the cars coming up to turn around because of the carnage up the hill. We never saw a staff member on the road and no signage to notifier people of the conditions. They should have closed the road to all 2wheel drive cars at lest.. or just close the hill!! is this just greed or sheer stupidity. Mt Lyford should take note from other fields/club fields as they have been doing this for some time!!
